The Rogue Valley Family YMCA is an independent, charitable, volunteer-based organization that has been serving the Rogue Valley for 60 years through community programs such as camp, health and fitness, child care and youth sports. programs for over 15,000 people annually. We are a charitable, 501(c)3, United Way Agency.
Did you know that the YMCA raises funds annually to provide scholarships for those who cannot afford YMCA programs? Last year the YMCA offered $146,000 in assistance for programs such as childcare, swim lessons, membership, specialty fitness, and youth sports and to other social service organizations to make a greater community impact.
At the YMCA, one of our most important goals has always been to enrich the lives of kids in our community. But when some are left out, it leaves us all a bit poorer.
That's because giving kids a safe and nurturing place to go benefits everyone. By introducing them to experiences that will help them grow into responsible, successful adults, we make the community we love a better place to live. One child at a time. One family at a time.
YMCA programs teach young people important values such as caring, honesty, responsibility and respect. Through a variety of fun and rewarding activities, they also develop valuable skills while they gain confidence and self-esteem. You simply can't put a price on strengthening and enriching the character of a child.
Your contribution helps make it happen.
Membership and program fees at the Rogue Valley Family YMCA do not cover all the costs to support these vital community programs. To ensure that no one is denied a chance to participate because of inability to pay, we truly need your help.
Through the YMCA Strong Communities Campaign, your contribution helps us provide program support and financial assistance to families who need it in our community. Only by working together can we give more kids the opportunity to grow strong in spirit, mind and body.
Big goals. To make a big difference.
This year's Strong Communities Campaign is launched with an ambitious goal of raising $140,000.00. We ask that you please give generously so that more kids and more families in our community can share the YMCA experience.
Your Gift of $10/month builds self-confidence by providing swim lessons and safety programs for 6 children in our community.
Your Gift of $25/month makes it possible for two children to attend summer camp with life-enriching activities such as archery and campfire.
Your Gift of $50/month allows one team of kids to learn skills, sportsmanship and teamwork through participation in YMCA Youth Sports.
Your Gift of $100/month enables one child to attend a YMCA after-school program for a year, a chance to make new friends and strengthen values.
Your Gift of $250/month enables 25 youth or 10 families a one-year YMCA membership.
Financial assistance is based on ability to pay. It is the policy of the Rogue Valley Family YMCA that no person is denied membership or program participation by reason of inability to pay fees. Funds made available for financial assistance are provided through the United Way and the YMCA's Annual Strong Communities Campaign.
Your company can support your local Y in many ways that will gain public acknowledgement for your organization and make a big difference to the Y through supplying necessary items for programs and development through market partnerships. A few examples of sponsorships that gain media attention are: camp shirts, staff shirts, brochures, display ads, commercials, banners, discounts to members, health fairs and special events. A few of the events your YMCA hosts annually are: the Strong Communities Campaign, Halloween at the Y, Healthy Kids Day, and the Mayor's Cup. The options are endless…if you would like to join in partnership with the YMCA, please contact Lisa Rupert at 772-6295 ext. 205 or drop a line to lrupert@rvymca.org.
What if the good you do could last longer than the here and now?
So much of what you do becomes part of the lives you touch. The example you set. The traits you see in you and seek to reflect. But what if it were possible to have the good you do live on forever?
That's the mission of the Heritage Club, to enable men and women who share the YMCA's ideals and traditions to ensure this valued heritage continues on for generations. The YMCA Heritage Club's purpose is to encourage thoughtful gifts as a primary means of building a strong endowment capable of providing lasting support for the YMCA's mission and then to recognize members whose leadership, service and devotion to the YMCA have created this heritage.
How do I qualify for Heritage Club Membership?
The Heritage Club is composed of individuals from all backgrounds, communities and walks of life who have made an outright or planned gift to the YMCA's endowment fund in one of the following ways:
- An outright gift of cash - In this way, each member not only benefits from the good that will be done but current income tax savings.
- An outright gift of appreciated assets - contributing such items as stock or property owned for longer than one year, you would receive a charitable deduction equal to the current value of the assets while avoiding capital gains taxes.
- A life insurance gift - Naming the YMCA as a primary or secondary beneficiary of your policy paves the way for a large future gift. Should you wish to contribute a life insurance policy that is no longer needed to protect current beneficiaries, you could realize substantial income tax deductions.
- A gift through your will - You may wish to consider including the YMCA in your will or living trust. In this way, a fixed amount, specific asset or percentage of your estate may be set aside as bequests and qualify for estate deductions.
- A gift made through a charitable trust or annuity - Creating a charitable trust or annuity provides life income for yourself and /or others. With all or a portion of your gift eventually directed to the YMCA, you could receive a charitable deduction.
Why should I give? While there are many reasons as there are Heritage Club members, perhaps the most common is "Just because it feels good".
Which will be the best giving plan for you? Consult your own legal and/or financial advisor, then ask your YMCA representative to assist you in selecting a gift opportunity that best expresses your generosity.
